Tank Shell Fire

A tank shell fire effect created in Unity3D as part of a project to create one particle effect per day.
The goal was to create a convincing firing effect for a tank and especially to pay attention to creating the impression of an extremely high speed projectile, while also getting to grips with Unity’s HDRP and the new Shader Graph pipeline.

Some simple particles with an alpha erosion shader for the core flames
Same particle, but stretched out to provide an impression of an ejected projectile
Bright flash at the start of the shot
Some smoke particles with a distortion shader follow the flames, with a high starting velocity that quickly decays.
A couple of ribbon trails positioned at the barrel create the appearance of wispy smoke coming from the barrel tip.
Another ribbon trail is used to provide an impression of the path left by the shell.
